This seven-story mixed-use building renovation contributes to the revitalization of Oakland, as a major overhaul to downtown’s historic Uptown Station. The former Sears building, originally opened in 1929, was refurbished as a corporate headquarters expansion to house well-known members of the East Bay’s burgeoning tech scene. Designed with an abundance of natural light and to evoke creativity, the development includes high-ceilings, exposed brick walls, retail spaces, public amenities, roof deck, and a spectacular 85-foot, five-story atrium/lobby space. The various repurposed and innovative features of the project contributed to the LEED Silver design.
