Truebeck Leads Back-to-School Drive for At-Need Kids

At retail, a backpack with STEAM supplies can range from $50 (Elementary) to $95 (High School) dollars. Unfortunately, children living in poverty start their school year at a large disadvantage. Without crucial school supplies, these students cannot fully participate in classroom activities or complete their homework.

Truebeck wants to help end that and build a path out of poverty. On Friday, July 28th, Truebeck partnered with The Family Giving Tree to lead a Back-to-School Drive with the goal of donating 150 backpacks with school supplies. Each summer, over 400 corporate and community Drive Leaders work with Family Giving Tree to collect new backpacks full of essential, grade-appropriate school supplies for Bay Area students. In 2016 alone, 39,273 backpacks were distributed through 306 partner schools and agencies.

Your support will help our students learn, succeed, and be the first in their family to go to college. These backpacks filled a huge need for our students.

We know that backpacks will help, but they’re not enough. So Truebeck partnered with My New Red Shoes to lead a shoe drive for the homeless and low-income children returning to school. Truebeck volunteers visited MNRS’s warehouse, personally selecting and packing each gift bag, back-to-school note, and pair of shoes that will be gifted to children prior to their first day of school. MNRS will be providing a new pair of shoes and and new clothing to 11,000 children this back-to-school season.

A big thank you to our Team for Tomorrow for organizing this hugely successful drive! Thank you to everyone who generously donated and participated in the events – know that you made a difference by bringing a lot of joy and hope to children who need it.
