Maintain your relationships. This is one of the most important lessons I’ve learned in my career. You never know where someone will end up, and in the AEC industry, we’re all connected.
Truebeck’s success is built on genuine collaboration. Team members consistently step up to support one another, fostering a culture of honest and transparent communication—both within our teams, and externally with our clients. It’s this spirit that makes Truebeck special.
I think great leaders are made, not born. They are shaped by other great leaders who invest time and energy into them. Telling someone, “You can do this!” goes a long way.
I’ve been fortunate to have great teachers and advocates. They’ve taught me to take ownership of my work—successes and failures alike. Now, my responsibility is to teach the next generation. The question becomes, how can you help them reach their full potential?
I prefer to collaborate, 100%. Collaboration is an opportunity to dig deeper into ideas and find connections. I know I don’t have all the answers, but someone does. Leveraging our collective knowledge is a team sport.
Working in construction is thrilling, because you get to make something tangible. You watch the idea of a project go from concept through design and construction, and then, it exists in the world. That space will shape the experience of so many people, and you were a part of making it real.
What do I love about my job? No two days are the same. It requires a perspective that is macro and micro, strategic and intuitive. There is a financial component, but it also calls for emotional intelligence. I love that it’s all of these things at once.
What I love most about the Pacific Northwest is the strong sense of community. People here are deeply invested in the places they live and have a genuine connection to the projects we’re bringing to life. It’s inspiring to be part of that.
My life philosophy? Be nice to people, and don’t talk with your mouth full.
I love a good list. Lists help me stay productive, and it is so satisfying to check off a literal box. You can say to yourself, “Yes! I got it done.”
Outside of work, I enjoy simple pleasures—travelling, cooking, spending time with friends, taking my dog for a walk, and painting.
I love that my team works hard but can also have fun. I’ve never laughed so hard and so genuinely in an office. There’s a wonderful team mentality—we’ll work through the tough stuff, and we’ll enjoy doing it.
