Construction is a high hazard industry that comprises a wide range of activities involving construction, alteration, and/or repair. Construction workers engage in many activities that may expose them to serious hazards, such as falling from rooftops, unguarded machinery, being struck by heavy construction equipment, electrocutions, silica dust, and asbestos.
Truebeck and ProCraft were excited to participate in Construction Safety Week, May 7th – 11th, and demonstrate the power of safe choices!
This event-filled week brought over 40+ training sessions and safety-related activities to Truebeck job sites and offices throughout the Bay Area. All of our field and corporate employees participated in a variety of health and safety focused events with our industry partners. Thank you to Hilti, Cintas, Guardian, Moldex, Rosendin, Werner Ladders, Bayside Safety Solutions, Turner Safety, HD Supply, Redwood City Fire Department and Menlo Park Fire Department.
Also, thanks to everyone’s dedication to safety, we achieved the Target ZERO goal of ‘No Recordable Injuries’ for the first quarter of 2018. What an excellent start to a busy year.

On a warm, clear blue sky day, all site workers, project team members, the design team and Uber came together to celebrate – what a sight it was!
Amongst cheers and phones capturing live video, the Truebeck beam was hoisted and positioned into place on top of the 12th story. This major milestone was a marker of how we truly “Raise the bar.”
Truebeck Construction is hosting the 4th annual Mike Tolbertson Memorial Golf Tournament on Monday, June 25th at Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club in Menlo Park.
This is a very special event for our company and those that knew Mike. His friendship and accomplishments at Truebeck are a lasting legacy that we’ll never forget.
We look forward to seeing his industry friends, family and all those who have come to love this fun tournament!

On March 27, Truebeck hosted a special event that was focused on the development of Pier 70 in San Francisco. It was held in partnership with The Registry, the top real estate media company in the Bay Area, Forge, and One Workplace. We had the unique opportunity to hold the event at one of our recently completed interior construction projects in the heart of Pier 70.
Nearly 100 attendees from the AEC community heard from the leading developers – Orton Development and Forest City – at the historic shipyard neighborhood. Our client, James Madsen from Orton Development was on the panel and gave insight into the planning process at the storied and historic site. Pier 70’s history dates back to the Gold Rush when the first steel ships were built on the Pacific. As one of the largest repair yards in the West, there are now more than 60 bay front acres seeking the right mix of preservation and development with industrial structures waiting for new uses.
On March 15th, Truebeck sponsored the 10th Annual Triple-Impact Competitor Scholarship & Awards Dinner hosted by Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA). The event honored local high school student-athletes with college scholarships.
PCA’s mission of creating a positive, character-building youth sports culture is a cause near and dear to Co-Founders Sean and David. Both are coaches of their children’s sports teams and they value how sports prepares young people to succeed in life.

Bisnow recently hosted Oakland’s Annual State of the Market Summit, with Mayor Libby Schaaf presiding as the keynote speaker. From office and housing to industrial, investors are pining for assets in Oakland and developers are building more in this cycle than ever before. Oakland has shed its reputation as a city full of crime for a city full of investment and building opportunities.
Truebeck’s own Travis Schultz was selected to speak as a panelist, along side leading developers and architects in the region. The panel discussion included topics such as:
• Where are East Bay real estate investors placing their money?
• With San Francisco office rents reaching new heights, is Oakland ready for steady growth?
• With the Golden State Warriors and Uber headed to Mission Bay: who is going to become the rising star tenant in the East Bay?
• And more!

Communal spaces are becoming more prevalent in the workplace as well. Throughout different building types, it has become less about individual workspaces and more about communal and networking spaces. – Travis Schultz, Project Executive

Truebeck held the Fourth Annual Movember Awards to honor the most manly and magnificent mustaches on our team. The night was a culmination of a month long fundraiser for The Movember Foundation, with over 40 Truebeck employees and clients growing mustaches in support of men’s health.
Together, we raised $32,281 – breaking the Top 25 national leaderboard, coming in as one of the Top 40 teams worldwide; and #1 in both the U.S. Construction and Bay Area Challenges!
To support the men who participated in this movement and to help the cause, Truebeck matched the raised funds 1:1, totaling $16,000. The money goes to funding three of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health/suicide prevention. Let us all remember why we partake in this month of funny facial hair – to help fund groundbreaking programs all over the world for men’s health.
We had over 70 attendees celebrating the incredible success of our fundraising campaign, and vying for a coveted mustache award. Congratulations to this year’s winners! Our team’s efforts also caught the attention of The Movember Foundation, who sent along their regional Development Manager, Robert Huffman, to speak at our event.
This is a tremendous accomplishment and we couldn’t have done it without all of the generous support. Thank you to all who contributed and participated.
Remember to continue the conversations about men’s health. We hope to see everyone back next year!
Our sandcastle builders hit Ocean Beach again, for the 5th consecutive year competing in the Leap Sandcastle Classic, one of the largest sandcastle events on the West Coast. Teamed with Taylor Design, Interface Engineering, Audio Visual Design Group, BKF Engineers, HDR Architects, Buehler & Buehler, Truebeck Construction worked with three classrooms of 5th grade students from Lafayette Elementary in San Francisco, building a sandcastle inspired from their creative minds.
This year’s theme was “Castles, Castles, Castles! – a throwback to classic sandcastles. With perfect weather for magnificent sandcastle building, our Dolphin Knights team competed with 25 teams from the A/E/C industry and won the Best-in-Show Silver (2nd place) Award, along with the overall award for Best Participation of Students! This is an amazing success following our 1st Place win from last year. A huge and well deserved congratulations to all involved!
Thank you to everyone who volunteered and brought their friends and family. It was wonderful to see so many new participants out there having fun!
Truebeck with our team partners raised over $6,000 for Leap’s Art in Education programs — for music, dance, theatre, creative writing, visual arts, and architecture. A big thank you to our sponsors Page & Turnbull, Air Treatment Company, Moz Designs, CRI, Lucky Strike, and many individual donations. We did it for the kids!
At retail, a backpack with STEAM supplies can range from $50 (Elementary) to $95 (High School) dollars. Unfortunately, children living in poverty start their school year at a large disadvantage. Without crucial school supplies, these students cannot fully participate in classroom activities or complete their homework.
Truebeck wants to help end that and build a path out of poverty. On Friday, July 28th, Truebeck partnered with The Family Giving Tree to lead a Back-to-School Drive with the goal of donating 150 backpacks with school supplies. Each summer, over 400 corporate and community Drive Leaders work with Family Giving Tree to collect new backpacks full of essential, grade-appropriate school supplies for Bay Area students. In 2016 alone, 39,273 backpacks were distributed through 306 partner schools and agencies.
Your support will help our students learn, succeed, and be the first in their family to go to college. These backpacks filled a huge need for our students.
–G Reyes, Co-Principal of Organizational Development at ARISE High School, Back-to-School recipient
We know that backpacks will help, but they’re not enough. So Truebeck partnered with My New Red Shoes to lead a shoe drive for the homeless and low-income children returning to school. Truebeck volunteers visited MNRS’s warehouse, personally selecting and packing each gift bag, back-to-school note, and pair of shoes that will be gifted to children prior to their first day of school. MNRS will be providing a new pair of shoes and and new clothing to 11,000 children this back-to-school season.
A big thank you to our Team for Tomorrow for organizing this hugely successful drive! Thank you to everyone who generously donated and participated in the events – know that you made a difference by bringing a lot of joy and hope to children who need it.
Last week, Truebeck held the 2017 Huddle – our annual all hands event. This year we took the event outdoors at Holbrook Palmer Park in Atherton, to enjoy the sun and the comfortable park setting like a summer concert. We had 300 team members attend, 14 company achievements, 12 promotions, 10 Raise the Bar Awards, 10 new project awards, three food trucks, one t-shirt cannon, and a WHOLE LOT OF FUN!
You can relive the fun by watching the video below!
