The 651 Gateway project involved repurposing a 17-story office building for life sciences tenants. The project included demolishing existing structures, seismic retrofitting, and replacing the outdated exterior with a new curtain wall system. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems were upgraded for laboratory use, including new equipment installations. Elevator and security upgrades, as well as improvements to lobby and restroom finishes, were implemented. Shared spaces, hazardous material storage space, and amenities for life science tenants, were also constructed.
